The world's smallest country.

Vatican City is indeed a sovereign nation, with its own rules, laws, etc. It's basically an enclave in Rome consisting of a few buildings and churches, and is easily and commonly visited.

I visited for the day while staying in Rome. It's a place of glittering gold and elegant statues where the Pope tries to promote his beliefs to the rest of the world.
