slovakia

June, July 2011

A dark nation of misty mountains.

Slovakia is hot and cold; mountains and plains; cities and villages; rich and poor. In short, it's attractive to the traveller.

I hitchhiked, and literally hiked, around Slovakia one summer. It's cheap, has strange buildings, safe, at times modern, and has a long and interesting history. I thought the mountains were absolutely stunning, and had some life-changing revelations while meditating in the swirling mists of the lush forests.

My ancestors also came from this region, so I especially like this country.
