A hill in Italy that is not Italy.

San Marino is a tiny country that is basically a hill in Italy. People speak Italian, may work in Italy, and the culture is Italian. But it's its own country. Few people outside of Italy seem to have heard of it, let alone be able to find it on a map.

I visited for a day in June 2014. You can walk up the steep cobblestone paths to get to the castle-like town with incredible views on all sides. I wandered the streets until I got lost, happy to be in one of the world's smallest nations.
