A modern jungle nation of two parts.

Both peninsular Malaysia and Borneo had fascinated me for years. When I finally got a chance to visit, I decided to spend a week on the peninsula, and two weeks on Borneo.

I was surprised by how clean and modern much of the nation is. I was also surprised by the heat, which is truly oppressive.

I ended up hitchhiked much of Borneo, visiting some magnificent caves, and climbing Mt. Kinabalu. Having studied Indonesian, I was also able to communicate well in Malay, which is a very similar language.

I love Malaysia. It's a great country for the traveler.
