Hungary
July 2011
The core of Eastern Europe.
Hungary may not have the stunning mountains of so many nearby countries, but Budapest is arguably one of the neatest cities in Europe. Situated on the mighty Danube River, Budapest has exotic architecture, a ton of cafes, huge cathedrals, and the wonderful Széchenyi Baths.
I spent a week in Hungary, mostly in Miskolc and Budapest. The language is fantastically complicated, and it's strangely exciting to finally be in a European country where English speakers aren't so common. Hungary is one of the many traveler's gems of Europe.
