The bottom of the Americas.
Argentina is known for its soaring peaks and cosmopolitan Buenos Aires. It gets a great reputation among travellers. I can't say it felt all that special.
We spent the austral summer in Argentina. The people were generally friendly, but the land is mostly ugly and developed. Only steep mountains are protected areas; it seems like the majority of the country is grazing land with cattle everywhere.
Regardless, the Patagonian peaks are a real gem, despite being overtouristed at parts, and Buenos Aires has plenty to do, despite not being at majestic as Argentinians will proudly convince you.
Our time in Argentina was largely spent on our Patagonia Rivers Kayaking Expedition, paddling remote rivers and climbing a few remote peaks. We had a great time travelling this large nation at the bottom of South America.
